Why is my floor still dirty after I mop?

Oh no, it’s so frustrating when this happens! Here are some tips on how to improve this:

  • Make sure you have fully swept or hoovered the floor before mopping, otherwise you’ll just be pushing around wet dirt.
  • Plan your exit route, make sure you start in the furthest corner and work your way to the door, so you don’t step onto where you’ve already cleaned.
  • Try mopping without chemicals/ detergents, sometimes these can leave residue on the floor surface that actually make it more dirty. Our mop heads remove 99% of bacteria with just water* so you can rest assured they will help get your floors as clean as you desire.
  • Try machine washing and/or replacing your mop head. You can buy refills here!
  • If using a mop bucket, replace your mop water, depending on how dirty the floors are; you may need to do this a few times.
  • If you’re like us at Vileda, and you have really high hygiene standards, we have just the product for you, the Vileda H2PrO range keeps the clean and dirty water in separate tanks – choose from a spin mop or a flat mop design.
